Unions launch last minute bid to save weekend penalty rates.

Prominent employee Unions have put forward an eleventh hour legal challenge to halt the Fair Work Commissions controversial decision to cut weekend penalty rates in certain Modern Awards. The challenge focuses primarily on what Unions believe to be a number of oversights and failings on the Commissions behalf, in particular the lack of consideration regarding the standard of living for low paid workers. The cuts are due to start gradually taking effect from this weekend.
