Bogangate: Job ad raises discrimination question.

A small family business in Perth has come under fire after posting an ad on the Job section of buy and sell website Gumtree which stated, amongst many other things, that “no bogans need apply”. The ad, for an admin assistant required to work between “12-15 hours a week”, had tongues wagging as to whether or not it was in breach of any Workplace Discrimination Laws. For clarity, acting commissioner of the WA Equal Opportunity Commission John Byrne said that while the ad did not breach any specific laws, it was “not advisable”.
