More Sunday penalty rates to get the chop?

A proposal by the Australian Industry Group could see Sunday penalty rates reduced in the hair and beauty industries. Acting on behalf of Hair & Beauty Australia, the AI Group will apply for a variation to the Hair and Beauty Industry Award 2010 to have Sunday penalty rates cut from double time down to time and a half. A spokesperson for the AI group stated that the Fair Work Commission have already recognised similarities between the hair and beauty industries and those which have recently had their rates cut. Unions are expected to strongly oppose the application.
